Samba and Active Directory
Good morning All, I have one for you:
I have an HP Server running CIFS/9000 in one domain, with users in another domain that want to be able to utilize resources on the CIFS/9000 server in the 'home' domain.
The user(s) have accounts in both domains, and the CIFS/9000 server authenticates the user when he is in the 'home' domain, but when the user with the same username attempts to login from the other domain, he gets rejected.
Now, I can change the user's CIFS password on the server in the 'home' domain to match what is in the other domain, thus letting user access the CIFS/9000 resource. But I don't want to be have to have the user typing in a different set of logon credentials (passwords) in order to access a resource that he/she is already able to access when they login to the home domain.
I am torn between setting up an LDAP server in the home domain, and integrate with the other domain (where Active Directory is running), or to try and configure the LDAP-UX client on my CIFS/9000 server to authenticate to AD. But I believe I would then have an issue with all users in the home domain having to authenticate with the AD in the other domain.
Any suggestions?
Thanx.
Mike
