Samba identification

I installed samba version 2.2.8a on a HPUX 11.0
and when i want to acceed my shared directories with my computer, I may sign-in manualy, but I can't, all users are rejected.
I installed the same version on another HPUX 11.0 and I don't have same problem.
Anybody know an action to do for my first server?

Re: Samba identification

The smb.conf file is the same on the two servers, and the samba version so.

Re: Samba identification

I use SECURITY=SHARE.
I try to use the smb.usermap file within success.
My user exist in the /etc/passwd file.
The two servers are identical, it's two clone.

Re: Samba identification

Your security level is share.
Did you add the users with the command smbpasswd

Otherwise you can copy the samba user DB from your other server (/var/opt/samba/private)

Re: Samba identification

No I never create a user with smbpasswd, I nver use this.
On the server which is ok, the directory /var/opt/samba doesn't exist.
On the server which is ko, the directory /var/opt/samba/private exist but is empty.

Re: Samba identification

How did you install samba?

You should install from HP:

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA

That way /var/opt/samba will exist!

Re: Samba identification

Thank's all, the problem was the parameter "guest account".
It value was smbnull but the user smbnull didn't exist in /etc/passwd.
