scheduler is not running

Hi,

I got the same problem that Yilac got on october 31, 2000.

I run lpsched and checked the status by running lpstat -t. And it reported scheduler is not running.

But, in my case when I run lpched -v
It only shows that the scheduler is running. But I try lpstat -t and i get l get scheduler is not running. I tried all the advices that wer give for Yilak on that opportunite.

Pls Advice

Re: scheduler is not running

Hi Marcelo,

I took a look at the other case you referenced, and there is a large amount of information. It would be most helpful if you would list exactly what you tried, and what didn't work. Then we should be able to help you solve this problem.

Re: scheduler is not running

Hi All,

If anyone wants to look at the previous case that Marcelo mentioned, I believe the name of the submitter was Yilak Yehualashet.

Re: scheduler is not running

Hi,

1) I checked SCHEDLOCK fille, it doesn't exist.

2) The lpsched -v returns:
scheduler is running
and after the lpstat -r returns:
scheduler is not running

3) ll /var/spool/lp/outputq
-rw-r--r-- 1 lp sys
ll /usr/sbin/lpsched
r-sr-xr-x 1 root bin
# ll -d
drwxr-xr-x 31 root root
# ll -d /var
dr-xr-xr-x 20 bin bin
# ll -d /var/spool
drwxr-xr-x 14 root sys
# ll -d /var/spool/lp
drwxr-xr-x 4 lp bin

4) ps -ef|grep sched
root 8 0 0 08:45:34 ? 0:00 supsched

5) do an lpshut and then look with ps -fulp to see if there are any lp processes left. If yes kill
them (kill or kill -9 )

# ps -fulp

Re: scheduler is not running

I went back and looked up Yilak's posting. It is beginning to sound to me that between your two postings your having the same problems...
You may want to go back to Yilak's posting and take a closer look at what Andreas responded near the end. I noticed what you mentioned you've done so far, stops short of what Andreas told Yilak to try. And that seems to have gotten it fixed for him.

Re: scheduler is not running

I tried everything that was recommed to Yilak Yehualashet.

Somebody know which patches are
necessary to make the printer works ? I am thinking about re-install
the patches. I got the follwing patch with the command swlist -l patch | grep lps
PHCO_18074 1.0 lpspool subsystem cumulative patch
