Script Help: pr command

I have a script(attached) that creates a number of 1 column files. It then uses the pr command to create a file with all the columns which is used to create an Excell doc.

It appears the pr has a limit of 10 files that it can process. Does anyone know of a work-around for this.

Can you handle serveral hits of pr putting the file together -
i.e.

pr a-d > aaa
pr e-h > eee
pr i-l . iii

pr aaa,eee,iii > ai
