SCSI Disk error message

On a 9000/715 running 10.20 I see this error message:
entry 0 - auto-configured on root device; SCSI: dev = 0x1f006000, O_SYNC I/O cannot be forced to media with this disk!
Immediate Reporting will be performed; FUA bit cleared from cdb.
See scsi_disk(7) and scsictl(1m) manpages.

What does it all mean? Does the disk not support something?

Re: SCSI Disk error message

Hi

Checked this out and I would bet that this is a non hp disk or has a very old firmware

It adds up to this Disk not supportting something like synchronous writes
( raw device writing)
and thus when an application tries to write to the disk with raw device mode, then
this error in the dmesg will appear. This does not concern patch installation and there are normally side effects due to this error.

Re: SCSI Disk error message

Thanks! I suspect a non HP disk - the system is at a customer site, and they may have used non-HP disks.

See above... (I didn't know I'd get another chance to put in a 'final work' when closing the thread).
