scsi errors after installing atdd 3.1.0.15

After installing IBM's atdd driver version 3.1.0.15 on an rp8420 running 11.11, I am seeing the following errors in dmesg:

SCSI: bp: 000000004f230800
dev: 4d000000
cdb: 12 00 00 00 80 00
residual: 80
status: (200) None -- Select Timeout

There are no tape drives attached to the system yet. Any ideas what might cause this?

Re: scsi errors after installing atdd 3.1.0.15

I think that the atdd (IBM) drivers may have some "polloing" feature, so if there is no HW attached, then the driver may be attempting to poll a non-existent device and so generate a "select timeout" message....

Are you seeing these messages at regular intervals...?

Yes, regular intervals. Any idea how to turn the polling off?

Thanks,
Keith

Sorry, I don't know. It's something I've heard of...
(in this case, the atdd driver had been installed unintentionally via an Ignite image and after removing the driver from the kernel problem went away)

I guess it may require a call to your IBM support folks...?
