I am having a strange problem that seems to contradict what the man pages and HP Docs are saying.
I am trying to swcopy some depot files into a new depot AS ROOT and I am recieving a "permissions denied" error.
It seems that even as root I cannot even view the host level ACL let alone manipuilate access. If I run 'swacl -l host' here is what I get:
ERROR: You are not authorized to perform the requested operation on
the "host" ACL at "ux-db2:/". Depending on whether you are
attempting to list or modify the ACL, you do not have the
required "test" or "control" permission, respectively. (Use
the "id" command to find out the identity information used by
SD to determine your access permissions.)
I'm confused. It states right in the man pages that "(Note, however, that the local super-user can always edit SD ACLs, regardless of permissions.)"!
BTW, I am logged in at the console as ROOT. ID shows that! This is a fresh install of B.11.31. This just started recently as I just installed APA software last week!
Any thoughts?

Solution
If running as root this typically indicates something wrong with the swagentd process. Try stopping it, clear the logs in /var/adm/sw/*.log and restarting it. Review the startup for errors.
Typically you will find either multiple processes, a confused process or an issue determining the hostname/IP of the server it is running on.

Re: SD-UX ACL Issues
Thank you sir. I haqve been over and over the hosts and netconf files...skipped right over the problem! Seems 1) I neglected to cleanup the old stanzas when I converted to APA links and 2) there was a rogue entry in the hosts file pointing to the old hostname as well!
All is well now! Tanks & Aiplanes Again!
