Secured Shell for HP-UX version 10.20

Hi,

I would like to find out if anyone knows how to setup secured shell for HP server running HP-UX version 10.20.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Secured Shell for HP-UX version 10.20

HP does not currently sell a product that allows encryption of shell
sessions over the internet based upon SSH (Although there are VPN solutions).

SSH Communications Security Ltd who can provide this solution, support a
version of the Secure Shell that runs on HP-UX, SSH Secure Shell.

Information regarding this product can be found at the following URLs:

http://www.ssh.org
http://www.ssh.com
http://www.ipsec.com

HP does not provide support for SSH, this information is here purely for
informational purposes only. This information does not constitute a
recommendation by HP for any particular implmenetation of SSH.

SSH Secure Shell is a trademark of SSH Communications Security Ltd.

There is also a FREE version of ssh (openssh) at:
http://www.openssh.com/portable.html

Good luck.
PS. I set up the datafellows ssh - I found that I needed an ANSI compliant C compiler - you will need to get gcc from the HP Software Porting And Archive Centre at http://eigen.ee.ualberta.ca/
nothing wrong with me that a few lines of code cannot fix!

Re: Secured Shell for HP-UX version 10.20

There are 3 main providers of SSH:
www.ssh.com
www.fsecure.com
www.openssh.com

I recently found out that SSH OEM's their software to F-Secure. I believe they are both $400 per server (yes you will have to pay). So the only difference here is the service you would receive. OpenSSH is the only free Secure Shell available.
There can also a version problem (SSH1 vs SSH2), if you are using a Windows 95/98/NT/2K client. There are some special requirements to look at. If this is all new then there won't be a version problem. I would go with SSH2. Make sure your DNS is working properly or change some of the options in the config file to compensate.
The clients cost money also. SSH and F-Secure make their own clients that are SSH1 and SSH2 compatable. OpenSSH only has a SSH1 client (that I'm aware of). All of these are adequate for what most people need in a static environment. I prefer VanDyke Technologies Client (SecureCRT) for it's incredible flexibility in a constantly changing environment (which I'm in). Check it out and make sure you know what it is you really are looking for.
