How can I block some IP adresses ?
I think the hosts file is insufficient.

Re: Security

For services started out of inetd use inetd.sec.

You can check ipfilter:

You might also consider tcp_wrappers and filtering with routers or other intermediate network equipment.

Re: Security

man inetd.sec

The hosts file doesn't block anything, it's purely a lookup file for converting IP addresses to names and vice versa.

Re: Security

Hi,

You can use inetd.sec file to deny|accept conections to the system, by service and by ip.

man inetd.sec

Re: Security

we have installed ipfilter on one of our machines. And it works fine.
And since ipfilter is not anymore in betaversion, I think it works.

But what do you want to do??? Do you want to block some user access???
