Sendmail 8.13.3 and vacation
Hi
I have installed Sendmail version 8.13.3, and I am facing a problem that wasn't present in the 8.11.1 version.
I have enabled the restricted shell "smrsh" (like on the previous version), and putted "rmail" and "vacation" in the dir /var/adm/sm.bin (as suggested by the man).
But the "vacation" program does not work anymore, since the e-mail is returned to the sender with this error message:
The original message was received at Tue, 17 May 2005 14:54:06 +0200 (METDST)
from mnaxp [10.0.0.13]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
"|/usr/bin/vacation -a user@gissi.marionegri.it user"
(reason: Local configuration error)

----- Transcript of session follows -----

can not chdir(/var/spool/clientmqueue/): Permission denied

554 5.3.5 Local configuration error
Reporting-MTA: dns; gissi.marionegri.it
Received-From-MTA: DNS; mnaxp

Final-Recipient: RFC822; user@gissi.marionegri.it
X-Actual-Recipient: X-Unix; |/usr/bin/vacation -a user@gissi.marionegri.it user
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: X-Unix; 78
Last-Attempt-Date: Tue, 17 May 2005 14:54:06 +0200 (METDST)
Can anybody please help me ?
The only thing I am sure about is that the full path of /usr/bin/vacation wouldn't harm, since the restricted shell should cut any path before the executable and look for it in the /var/adm/sm.bin directory.
Thank you in advance
Enrico

Re: Sendmail 8.13.3 and vacation
Try providing the restricted user with a local copy of the vacation program. Other components may also be required.

Re: Sendmail 8.13.3 and vacation
Sorry but ... what do you mean exactly ? The program has been copied to the /var/adm/sm.bin directory.
