I am having a problem sending mail from GroupWise to Unix.
My unix server will execpt mail from gwxxx.domain.com, but not gwxxx.mail.domain.com.
And all my mail is from the latter.

Re: sendmail or dns I'm not sure
Put an entry in /etc/mail/access
gwXXX.mail.domain.com RELAY
makemap hash access.db
Then restart sendmail.

Re: sendmail or dns I'm not sure
I think the problem is how the unix host sees mail.domain.com. i added the entry in /etc/hosts
###.###.### domain.com mail1 mail 2
only thing is domain.com has 6 aliases for on IP.
It works, but it dosn't seem right.

Solutionwhat's in your nsswitch.conf file
Are hosts dns,files
or files,dns
With regards to incoming mail, it should not make a difference. The relay info above should solve the problem.

Re: sendmail or dns I'm not sure
I did make some chane to /etc/hosts that help some thoug.
Groupwise mailbox are
mailbox1.domain.com
mailbox2.domain.com
mailbox3.domain.com ..etc
dns show the addrees the server
###.###.### domain.com
so i added this to /etc/hosts
###.###.### domain.com mailbox mailbox2 ..etc
seems to work.
below is nssswitch.conf
# /etc/nsswitch.files:
#
# An example file that could be copied over to /etc/nsswitch.conf; it
# does not use any name services.
#
#hosts: dns #files
hosts: files[notfound=continue] dns
passwd: files
group: files
services: files
networks: files
protocols: files
rpc: files
publickey: files
netgroup: files
automount: files
aliases: files
