sendmail problem 554 No SMTP service here

Hi,

I'm trying to configure sendmail on a machine. I basically need to configure it the same as an existing server we have on the same subnet. I have taken the sendmail.cf file from this host. When I do a verbose sendmail I can see it connects to the mail server however I get the error 555 No SMTP Service here. On the other host it simply connects and sends the mail. I'm not really sure where to go with this. It seems to suggest the mail server is closing the connection. Does the mail server need configuring to accept the requests?
