Re: server ok, but ems alerts

Eventhough the servers works fine, there might be a problem with the power supply. If these messages keep coming from EMS alerts, you may need to contact HP support to get it fixed. EMS messages are some time informatory, but it's the best resource to do a preventive maintance schedule.

Hola!

It seems that the error describes a problem with the power supply. I think the best option would be to log a call to your local HP Response Center:

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

EMS version 4.00 is out.

That has dealt with some of the false alarms that EMS has been sending regarding media errors on disks.

I would get the power supply/UPS looked at just to make sure everythign is okay though.

If this box has gsp, you should check it.

At the console:
Ctrl-b

sl

Error

Read through them and post them if you want us to look at them.

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

We have called to the HP Support and the HP service has sent us pieces. When the HP technician has come, everything was perfect. On gsp everything is in favor well. But the event monitor has sent the mail. Some other idea?

Thank you very much by your suggestions.

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

Sometimes the EMS message is not 100% correct, I have the similar experiences with you, the only thing I can think of at this moment is your firmware version.

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

Hi
The message is reporting an undervoltage from the power supply unit - DC supply.

Did the HP tech measure the PSU voltages from the PSU output and also at the receipent end for volts drop?

Yes EMS can give false messages but until proved that this is a faulse message treat as a real fault.

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

It happens in several servers, about 12..., and with different alarms.
I think that there are not 12 servers bad, but it is a wron version of the EMS.

Re: server ok, but ems alerts

Hi

It is feasable that you have 12 servers with viable EMS alarms.

Can you post the alarm messages.

What OS are they running

In the EMS error log there is a web address to look up further information on the fault :-

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/content/hardware/ems/dm_chassis.htm#1185

Your EMS is:-
EMS Version.....................: A.03.20
