Service Guard Related Question
I am removing the SG package from my system. And this is what I think needs to be done. This is on Clarion environment and we use POWERPATH. Appreciate your help.
1) cmhaltpkd xyzasd
2) cmdeleteconf -v -p xyzasd
3) Rename the pkg directory to xyzasd.old
3a) cmviewcl - to check is gone
4) cmchecmconf -v -C /etc/cmcluster/cmclconf.ascii
5) strings lvmtab > lvmtab.orig - to find out disk
6) vgexport /dev/vgxysasd - to remove from lvmtab file.
******* This is were I am not sure ********
7) powermt remove dev=c35t0d2
8) rmsf –a /dev/dsk/c35d0d2 or use -H for H/W path
9) ioscan –fnC disk
10) insf -C disk - To reinstall files
11) powermt config - Reconfigure the device in powerpath.
12) powermt display dev=all - Display the powerpath devices and verify.
13) powermt save - Save the powerpath configuration.
14) HAPPY ENDING
Thanks,
M

Re: Service Guard Related Question
I use the rmsf -H but I've also have seen threads with rmsf -k -H, and this looks like the equivalent of rmsf -a.

I am not going to re-use the disk and this will be a removal of the package. If you think my process is in-correct then please let me know how you would do this.
Appreciate you help and feedback.

Re: Service Guard Related Question
As long as the server has access to the LUN on the array, steps 7-8 will remove the device from the server, and steps 9 & 10 will add it back.

Re: Service Guard Related Question
So then I do 7, 8 skip 9 and 10 and then do 11, 12, and 13. Or please let me know what is best way to do this so that I don't lend up with DEAD paths when I do power path display command.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks

Re: Service Guard Related Question
You can then use ioscan to verify that the LUN is no longer available. Then you can finish your powermt stuff.

Re: Service Guard Related Question
what I am usualy doing is:
6.5 ) in Clariion: remove the disks from Storage group after vgexport
7 ) ioscan -fnCdisk # should show NO_HW
8 ) powermt check # removes all dead powerpath links, repeat this step till all removed disks are removed from the powerpath config. This can take a while.
9 ) powermt save
10) powermt display dev=all # to check
11) HAPPY ENDING
I would not use rmsf before reconfiguring powerpath.
