Serviceguard and sgesap upgrade

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade service guard from 11.13 to 11.16 .Also we would be upgrading sgesap from 3.09 to 3.10.
Has anyone completed a similar activity .I would like to know what all stpes are involved and are there any sites from where we can find out the patches required for the implementation

Thanks & regards,
Abhijit

Re: Serviceguard and sgesap upgrade

Hi

We had upgraded service guard more than a year back, the package and the cluster was done, removed and installed the new service guard (make sure the required patches are there) after that the cluster was brought up and the packages and everything was good.

Re: Serviceguard and sgesap upgrade

Have upgraded ServiceGuard - to 11.16 - which runs my SAP environment.

Real question is - what version of HP-UX are you on?

11.16 requires 11iv1 minimum.

Read the release notes:

Re: Serviceguard and sgesap upgrade

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
We are very much running HPUX11i and the patches are installed as of Jan 2005.
I would like to know the following points.

1)Is rolling upgrade the only proceedure for upgrading the Service Guard?

2)Is there any document that we can refer for the same?

3) How do we proceed with the patching of the system?I have checked on docs.hp.com and the wtec site both are showing different patch list.

Thanks & Regards,

Doc on upgrading ServiceGuard:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B3936-90079/index.html

There is a section on rolling upgrades:

Re: Serviceguard and sgesap upgrade

The Rolling Upgrade process and specific web-page was previously noted.
You don't have to keep the cluster running if you don't want to, while upgrading the nodes.

You asked:
)Is rolling upgrade the only proceedure for upgrading the Service Guard?

What did you have in mind?? Where you thinking of upgrading the O/S as well?

If you have access to the WTEC site, this site is the most current patch site for 11i and Serviceguard:
http://hpgsslhc.cup.hp.com/Support/Patches/LM11.11.html

Insure that if you read and adhere to the Serviceguard patch "Special Installation Instructions" now that 'identd' is an integral requirement for Serviceguard.

The manufacturer of the SGeSAP product does not support an "upgrade" process for that product. They recommend a new integration when a newer version is installed. That because files and architecture of the product may change so significantly that they can be outdated and unused.
