1. We have a 2 node cluster (2 - rx6600s on 11.23)using SG 11.18. The 2 nodes share (active/passive) a DS2500 array (our data).
2. We wish to move the data to NetApp storage, but HP says they will not support Serviceguard on NetApp storage.
3. Because of # 2, we would like to remove Serviceguard and become a standalone server connected to the NetApp storage (will allow us to replicate to another location). The now inactive 2nd server/node would be a standby server also connected to the NetApp storage but the vgs would not be activated.
4. Although we would be removing Serviceguard, we would like the 2nd, inactive server to be available to manually 'fail over' should the first server fail. HP suppport doesn't like this scenario as well (although they admit that vgexporting the vg maps and importing them to the 2nd server would probably work).
Any suggestions how we can get this to work?
Any other scenarios that may get us to our goal of replicating data from one data center to another?

Re: Serviceguard not supported with NetApp storage
Or how are you trying to use them?

Re: Serviceguard not supported with NetApp storage
However, that does not mean they won't work. Might be worth doing some testing?
I asked about the NFS mounts, as Serviceguard A.11.20 on HP-UX 11iv3 now supports NFS mounts being done in a package. Just a thought

Re: Serviceguard not supported with NetApp storage
A1 and S1 would be running on one site,
A1 sevrer on first site
A2 server on 2nd site.
If A1 failes you would sync S1 with S2, and activate the VG from S2 on A2.
It should work just your application should be aware about the 2 scenario.

Re: Serviceguard not supported with NetApp storage
from the small print at the bottom of that 3rd party support page:
**The local HP representatives must request and be granted an ''Allowance'' for any configurations using third-party storage devices. HP reps can find details on the ''Allowance'' process on the internal HP website, the Sales Information Gateway (SIG). Within SIG, click the Sales Library and search using keyword 3RDPSDS.
What this is basically saying is that in general HP can make accommodations for support of items detailed on this page, but the detailed configuration needs to be understood and underwritten by the support organisation. In other words "it depends"
So you should point your rep at that... and see what comes back...
