Set LANG

Hi,
does anybody know what could happen to an application (like BroadVision, BEA or Oracle)if I set the LANG variable to a different value?
At this moment the charset is the default 7-bit USASCII and I want to change it to WE8ISO8859P1.
Thanks to everybody.
Regards,
Michela

Re: Set LANG

Hi Michela,
client can have problem in connecting succesfully to the DB.

Client LANG must coincide with DB LANG.

In what language was the DB built with ? That is the only language you muswt use, unless you change the DB lang, which is done via export/import to allow for charset conversion.

What is the reason for doing this ?
