Settings for External JetDirect.

We hv line printer attached to External HP Jetdirect 300X. My problem is intermitently the paper eject 1 blank page. Everyday we print a same report and it not happened everyday. Normally it happened once a week but sometimes twice a week. I check all the settings under Jetadmin but could not find any problems. Anybody can help to set the HP JetDirect 300X which connect to HP9000 Server..?

you did not mention about the printer spooler softwares and servers ( eg. HP distributed print services , HP openspool or lp )u are using ?

We are using lp command to print reports. Is there any software on HP-UX that can controls printer spooler..?
How abt at yr environments..change ideas.

hi,
if you want to setup a network distributed print service you can use HP distributed print
services (or) HP openspool print services.
i think HP openspool is obsolete now. So you
may go for HP Distributed print services.

hi,
you say you are using lp for printing. coming back to paper skipping problem. please try this
cd /etc/lp/interface
the file for your printer will be here. edit the file and try disabling the banner page print using "-h".

note: before starting take a copy of that file.

This is not a jet directo problem, nor a printer problem, but a report problem.

I am sure as with most reports contents and size vary from day to day. It only takes one extra line which can be blank to eject the extra sheet of paper.

A printer can print blank lines too..
