last week we attempted to upgrade a hp-ux server from 11 - 11.11 and had very serious problems, the upgrade suceeded but when we tried to frecover certain data from the existing 11 server numerous errors occured which caused the system to be unbootable. /usr/lib and /usr/local were recovered using frecover along with some other key directories. Could this of caused some problems with incompatibility between library files on different versions of the OS
ive attached a file with a list of the errors.

Re: Severe problems when upgrading from 11.00 - 11.11
Hi,
i wonder the error log says /etc/system file is missing whereas "system" file is never in /etc rather it is in /stand. It contains all boot time loadable modules.
Why this happened. Did you restored the correct backup??
BTW, /etc/system file is on solaris.

Solution
Hi John
As it seems U have copied the older executable and library files to the system. The better option left for u in this scenario is to boot the system from the previous Kernel and you will have to check whether your m/c is working with that.If it goes smooth then U have to Go for a fresh upgrade of 11.11 once again.
Regards
