Hi,
I have a requirement to move windows folders to a HP UX box, because the said wintel server is beset with problems.
The files in question are Oracle Developer 2k forms and reports. They are to be invoked by users from pc's. these forms are used to add and query and modify info on the main oracle database. These need to be accessed from user PC's running win2k, xp, nt, 98.
How do i get this done. The files must reside on HP UX and appear to the Win users as Windows Shares. Right now the authentication is done at domain level, because the WIntel server is part of the Active Directory domain. This means that users access can be controlled to required folders.
How would i achieve this in HP UX. Is there a default privilege to setup and then give all users READ access only (which maybe all they need)
I have heard of SAMBA and CIFS.
Any ideas around. Many thanks in advance.

Solution
Hi,
You can use CIFS/9000 share.
Try this link below for a basic setup.
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000062921708
The itrc doc id is UCIFSKBRC00008078.
Also check the hp doc site,
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/netcom/index.html#HP%20CIFS
If you need you can download CIFS server/client from the hp software site.
http://software.hp.com
Hope this helps.
