Shell or PERL script for Plotting Graph
I have a log file(attached).I want to get values of different variables changing with time and to plot the graph of
their variation with time.
Example- i want to get the values of "\\JUPTCP01\LogicalDisk(C:)\Avg. Disk
Bytes/Read","\\JUPTCP01\LogicalDisk(C:)\Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer","\\JUPTCP01\LogicalDisk(C:)\Avg. Disk Bytes/Write"
from the log file and then to plot the graph of their variation with time in a same graph (in Microsoft Excel).
so can you provide a shell or perl script to do the same?? I can get the values using "awk" command in unix but how
to transfer those values for using them in MS Excel???
Please help me....its urgent

Just redirect your awk output to a file, then move the file somewhere you can access using Excel. For example, all you need to do is add
"> somefile.txt" to the end of your awk command line to get the output redirected to somefile.txt.
But have you tried using "sar"? (run command "man sar" for more information)
It produces a nice, multi-column text output. You could redirect it to a file and then try to feed it to Excel as-is. Excel is quite clever in importing data from text files automatically.
