Shutting down ftp services

I need to know that how can I shutdown ftp services on three HP-UX servers which are in cluster.

Remove the ftp entry from /etc/services and restart the inetd, see

Hi Torsten,

Do not we have to edit /etc/inetd.conf file for hashing out the entry for ftp.

By restarting inetd, you mean to execute "inetd -c" to re read the configuration.

# inetd -k
# /usr/sbin/inetd

Yes, you need to comment the FTP entries in /etc/inetd.conf. /etc/services is documentation and doesn't control much.

No real need to kill inetd with the 'inetd -k'.

Doing an 'inetd -c' should suffice and has always worked for me.
