Re: single user booting

It appears as if your kernel got messed.

If you are getting this error now, then the chances are VERY good that you system will NOT boot back to multi-user mode.

What you need to try:

ISL> hpux -is /stand/vmunix

If that doesn't work, then try:

ISL> hpux -is /stand/vmunix.prev

If that doesn't work, you may need to try recovering from your most recent Ignite/UX backup, or try booting from an install CD/DVD to generate a bootable kernel.

Re: single user booting

So you are saying that if you reboot your system and let it come up by itself, it boots correctly? But when you interact with the boot and attempt to go into single-user mode, you get the error?

Is that correct?

If so, can you please post the output of:

# ll /stand

Re: single user booting

Hi Patric
In single user mode the system was giving the error as
Boot:
disk (1/0/0/3/0.6.0.0.0.0.0:0) /stand/:-cant open ,or not executable
Exec failed:no such file or directory
ISL>

but after that once again i use the hpux -is at ISL> prompt then my server booted propely in single user mode .how this is happen i dont know. Thanks for your good co-operation.
