single user booting
my root account is disabled. i tried to boot my system in to single user mode but it is giveing error that
ISL>hpux -is
disk 1/0/0/0/3/0.6.00000.0/sand/-
cant open or not excutable extc fail.
but my system is working in muiltuser mode properly.but the root user is blocked in multiusermode.so pls help me

If you are getting this error now, then the chances are VERY good that you system will NOT boot back to multi-user mode.
What you need to try:
ISL> hpux -is /stand/vmunix
If that doesn't work, then try:
ISL> hpux -is /stand/vmunix.prev
If that doesn't work, you may need to try recovering from your most recent Ignite/UX backup, or try booting from an install CD/DVD to generate a bootable kernel.

i would like to mention the thanks first for your quicr response.
how my system is working in multiuser mode proprly.in singe user mode i am getting ISL prompt after taht i use the command hpux-is.after that it is giving error.in mutuser i check mounted file system by using bdf it is showing all the mount point .how it is possible

U r saying that boot ur system from vmunix.prev but my sytem is working in multiuser mode properly.do u feel that its a kernal prroblem pls explain me

In single user mode the system was giving the error as
Boot:
disk (1/0/0/3/0.6.0.0.0.0.0:0) /stand/:-cant open ,or not executable
Exec failed:no such file or directory

but after that once again i use the hpux -is at ISL> prompt then my server booted propely in single user mode .how this is happen i dont know.Thanks for your good co-operation.
