Really, I??m trying to identify the problem !
I have definied my /etc/hosts like this:
130.10.16.8 s_inb_08 inb08-100 # lan2 HP9000/T520 10/100Base-TX
130.10.17.8 s_inb_08 inb08 # lan1 HP9000/T520 10Base-TX
My connections to this server are by hostname and IP Address, and when I make some connection using "rcp, telnet, ftp, remsh, etc", I observe a minor performance , but if I make this tests in other servers, I don??t have this problem.
The funny is that this problem doesn??t exist before. It??s very strange.
The ping response is:
# ping 130.10.17.8
PING 130.10.17.8: 64 byte packets
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=0. time=3. ms
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=1. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=2. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=3. time=0. ms
----130.10.17.8 PING Statistics----
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 0/0/3
# ping inb08
PING s_inb_08: 64 byte packets
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=0. time=3. ms
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=1. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 130.10.17.8: icmp_seq=2. time=0. ms
The nslookup command resolve correct:
# nslookup inb15
Using /etc/hosts on: s_inb_08
looking up FILES
Name: s_inb_15
Address: 130.10.17.18
Aliases: inb15
The lanscan command:
# lanscan
Hardware Station Crd Hdw Net-Interface NM MAC HP-DLPI DLPI
Path Address In# State NamePPA ID Type Support Mjr#
0/36 0x08000945CD53 0 UP lan0 1 FDDI Yes 119

2/36 0x00108318D721 2 UP lan2 snap2 3 ETHER Yes 119
When I use the linkloop command, the exit is:
# linkloop 0x08000945CD53
Link connectivity to LAN station: 0x08000945CD53
-- OK
# linkloop 0x0800094526EA
Link connectivity to LAN station: 0x0800094526EA
error: get_msg2 getmsg failed, errno = 4

# linkloop 0x00108318D721

error: get_msg2 getmsg failed, errno = 4
-- FAILED
frames sent : 1
frames received correctly : 0
reads that timed out : 1
I think that??s sound something like a "problem with the definition of my two IP Address in the switch of my network" , What do you think ?
P.D. The speed of my 10/100 LANIC is 100 Full Duplex with auto-negotiation off.
# lanadmin -x 2
Current Speed = 100 Full-Duplex Auto-Negotiation-OFF
What patches must check for ARPA transport?. I have HPUX/11.00.
Best Regards !

Re: Slow connection !
Harry says !
Simple, you don't have them configured.
My question is:
How can I configure my LANICS ?. The status is:
# netstat -rn
Routing tables

Re: Slow connection !
You are still ok Ivan because you accept that. Once I have assigned point to 5 out of 40.
Ivan
looks like you have both nic configure.
you can reconfigure from
/etc/rc.config.d/netconfig.
For example Here is what I have
# lanscan
Hardware Station Crd Hdw Net-Interface NM MAC HP-DLPI DLPI
Path Address In# State NamePPA ID Type Support Mjr#
0/0/0/0 0x0010837C72DE 0 UP lan0 snap0 1 ETHER Yes 119
1/0/0/0 0x00A088018625 11 UP lan11 snap11 2 ETHER Yes 236
1/12/0/0 0x00108305D68F 8 UP lan8 snap8 3 ETHER Yes 173
#
Here are the speed.
# lanadmin -s 0
Speed = 100
# lanadmin -s 11
Speed = 800
# lanadmin -s 8
Speed = 1000000000
So I need lan8
# netstat -rn
Routing tables
Dest/Netmask Gateway Flags Refs Use Interface Pmtu
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 0 243830 lo0 4136
10.20.0.34 10.20.0.34 UH 0 1020882 lan8 4136

127.0.0.0 127.0.0.1 U 0 0 lo0 4136
default 10.20.254.1 UG 0 0 lan8 1500
so cat /etc/rc.config.d/netconfig
