Hi all,

Is there a programm at HP unix like snoop at the SUNos? Or is there another way to get the laninterface into promiscue's mode and see all the traffic at a particular laninterface? (from the UNIX application)

You can displahy a lot of information about lan interfaces from the following commands:

speed/duplex: lanadmin -x 0

lanscan

ndd

man ndd

Hp has included its own shiffer application called nettl.It may be not so user friendly as ethereal or simple as tcpdump but its there.

I attach a short document on how to use nettl.

unfortunatly, nobody has ported snoop to hpux. the HP engineers should do it. HP uses nettl, which is atrocious if your used to using snoop.
tcpdump may be the closest thing, but it's not as good either.

ethereal is your best bet here. Here's a link to the absolute newest version 0.9.15 - just posted a couple of weeks ago:

And yes, it can snoop in promiscous mode.
