4440 running HP-UX 11.11 with mirrored system disk: I have to load a bunch of patches, and wish to split the mirror prior to doing so in case I want to back out (boot off split-mirror disk). Is this best accomplished using lvsplit? If, after loading patches to primary system disk, I wish to re-mirror, then just lvmerge? Thank you.

Shalom,
That is a time honored way of giving yourself a backout path.
Its a lot more work than a make_tape_recovery tape or a make_net_recovery image, but it does work.
You will probably want to re-mirror after the patches go all right.
