Stape driver

Hello
i want to defined the tape drive into two servers (rp8420 version 1.0 11.11) One from the server contained the 'stape driver' and another no the tape drive it is connected physicaly, how to solve this problem
NOte:i am using the "insf -e command and
mksf -C tape -I 0 -b DDS2 -n " But all did not help.

Hi,

easiest way for you is to use SAM, I think.
Go to kernel config - you'll find it for shure.
Having added the stape driver to the kernel, all will go automagically on reboot with a tape drive attached.

i am dont need to this option
how to add the tape drive to the kernel without this question.

you need a new kernel to get that support -
not possible without reboot.

you can't connect same tape to two server.

if stape driver is not installed in the server on which tape is physically connected , you have to create new kernel for that. you can take backup of other server in this tape. you have to specify the remote hostename:devicename

like
fbackup -f remote_host_name:/dev/rmt/cntndn -i path

you can use this way for fbackup, rdump , tar & dataprotector etc
