stape panics 11.31
Technically this isn't a question, more an observation and whether anyone else has seen it...
Installed HP-UX 11.31 from good Golden Image. Image doesn't include stape. Servers are vPars on sx2000 Dome using SAN-boot from XP24000. Backup is via DP and ESL-712e tape library...
Zoned and presented tape drives over SAN... All servers without schgr and stape driver in kernel PANIC immediately - no commands run, servers a in quiescent state..! OH DEAR !!!
De-zoned tape drives = no PANIC...
Included schgr(needs reboot)... Zoned-in tape drives = PANIC...
De-zoned tape drives = servers OK...
Included stape(needs reboot)... Zoned-in tape drives = OK ..!!!
Two things...
(1) I can't believe that by detecting a device (a tape drive!) that HP-UX has no driver included in the kernel will cause a PANIC..!
(2) I am suprised that stape would NOT be included in a standard build even though the device currently doesn't exist..!
Comments would be appreciated...

Re: stape panics 11.31
Usual question... patches?
A search in the patch database for SCSI and panic turns up a few 11.31 patches...
