Re: Statistics for April 2003
If Merijn chose to pass on the statistics duty to someone else, I would be honored to do it. However, that would mean he would have to pound some mimimal perl knowledge through my thick skull and that would probable be more work than he puts into the statistics.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
No need though. April stats already in new thread http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xff54b82b2d63d71190080090279cd0f9,00.html
Volkmar, that is an empty thread with no subject. Is it meant to chat? Why not use the chatroom sometimes? I've been visiting that quite regularly from 17:30 to 18:00 in the past week (not today, have to run by then)
Chatting in /this/ thread is/was OK. Otherwise I should not have started it. I just don't want the regular stat threads to be used for it.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
Yes, I'm aware of what Volkmar's suggestion was. I guess I'm repeating the offer as a response to XMAN's suggestion. If you'd like, I would be happy to do it.

Eacks.
# find /opt/perl5 -name strict.pm
> (@INC contains: /opt/perl5/lib/5.00502/PA-RISC1.1 /opt/perl5/lib/5.00502 ...
Aiaiaiai. 5.005_02 Way to old for me :) Any chance in upgrading it to 5.8.0 or do projects depend on it?
Anyway, Time::HiRes did not exist by then, so you'd have to install that.
FWIW this script loads the HP-UX home page and times the time it needs to load it. Every 10 minutes. If you have an alternate (reliable) way to do so, I'd like to hear your response time.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
I think the only reason I even have perl on my W.S. is from when I was trialing Bastille. I have no problem installing any version you think I should have.
The alternative is to hit the reload button on my Netscape browser and log the time (which the browser does provide).
Whatever you think. I'm willing to help.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
no idea which (hp?-)ghost I have called.
My thread is deleted from the forum list and also my comment
8-(((((((
Maybe Dan would know more?
I can't connect to ITRC chat from here and at home there are 3 kids (and a wife) and so I've tried it only a short time twice last month.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
then fetch Time::HiRes from ftp://download.xs4all.nl/pub/mirror/CPAN/authors/id/J/JH/JHI/Time-HiRes-1.45.tar.gz and install it
# cd /tmp
# gzip -d
# /opt/perl/bin/perl Makefile.PL
# make
# make install
Volkmar, it's a shame that we cannot communicate in the chat. Pete, if you want online assistence, ask for it at h dot m dot brand at hccnet dot nl and I'll enter the chat (I have to leave at 17:15 METDST)

Re: Statistics for April 2003
Give me a while to get everything together. Hopefully I can get it installed today. I'll let you know.
By the way, I can't get to chat from here at work, so if I run into problems, I'll either e-mail you at procura(dot)nl or post here. My email, should you need it, is available in my profile.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
If you hadn???t already submitted so many posts that told us all how automated you had this process, I probably would have bit in this myself. As it was, it just confused me for a brief time. I will admit that much ;-P~~
John P.,
Dude, I???m impressed! I don???t know if I would have ever caught that if you hadn???t pointed it out.
{Bows} I???m not worthy (repeats multiple times)???
And just think, I didn???t even get to play an April Fool???s joke on anybody yesterday ;-(
{This is where you are all supposed to boo-hoo for me}
Dan,
Thanks for hooking us up with the correct link again!

Re: Statistics for April 2003
Isn't this ironic? At long last, I've got some statistics for you:
2003-04-03 07:59:02 109144 2.87 s 37.17 kbps
2003-04-03 08:09:05 109400 2.58 s 41.40 kbps
2003-04-03 08:19:08 109384 3.16 s 33.77 kbps
2003-04-03 08:29:12 109385 3.22 s 33.16 kbps
2003-04-03 08:39:16 109513 2.75 s 38.90 kbps
2003-04-03 08:49:20 109254 3.65 s 29.27 kbps
2003-04-03 08:59:26 109018 3.83 s 27.77 kbps
2003-04-03 09:09:33 109146 5.75 s 18.54 kbps
I'm going to keep it running to see if I can catch the typical, daily slowdown, as well.

Re: Statistics for April 2003
This is the T1 corporate pipeline. The 3 or 4 second response that I usually get, which equates to 30 to 40 KBps, seems normal to me, probably because it's what I've always seen. I can live with that. I don't think it's optimal, certainly, but I can live with it. It's the multi-minute responses or even the 30 second responses that *REALLY* bug me.
