STM cclog on rp7420

I read the release notes for STM that cclogd has been disabled for rp7420. Is there any way to enable it? I use cclogd to pull logs from GSP and parse them with our own perl scripts and generate sms, pager alerts ,etc.

Many thanks.

Re: STM cclog on rp7420

Hello Marius,

For rp7420, use dm_chassis

Thanks

Re: STM cclog on rp7420

Marius,

you can dm_chassis as what TY007 suggest

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/emd_dm_chassis.htm

cclogd runs on all:
A Class, L Class, N Class; and on all Superdome class and rpXXXX systems with
processors prior to the PA8800.

Dm_chassis runs on all PA Superdome class, rp74XX and rp84XX systems with
processors prior to the PA8800.

Re: STM cclog on rp7420

Hi Marius,
I'm not sure I fully understand the question, nor some of the answers above.

The job of cclogd is done on PA8800 (and later) systems by ia64_corehw and fpl_em. These monitors use the IPMI to follow the SEL and FPL, and log EMS notifications as appropriate. The records are saved to logfiles on the system.

Since the rp7420 uses PA8800 or later chips, the responses above are incorrect in stating that dm_chassis is relevant.

How did you use cclogd? Did you actually invoke cclogd, or do you mean you used the data it saved, via logtool, perhaps?

Re: STM cclog on rp7420

It turns out that it was disabled for a reason. Rp7420 and probably later not longer use cclogd . I now use slview to view MP logs. It is IPMI based.

I did a strace of cclogd on an rp7420 and the error stated that cclogd no longer runs on that system. It now uses IPMI.

Thats not the exact error but the idea is that they now use IPMI.

Thanks for the help.
