I'm not an expert in this, but since nobody else has responded, perhaps I can make a suggestion...

The error message mentions TCP... try unplugging the network cables from the machine, and the messages may stop, so you can install the patches.

Good luck!

Hi,

I believe there is a network issue. Make sure all the cables are connected and the configured interfaces are working correctly. Also check the speeds and duplex types.

You can do the patch install from a telnet session.

I would not pull the cables as a first bet.

If you have remote root logon disabled here is a little cookbook.

login as a user.

su - root
give the root password

swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x reinstall=false -s /tmp/PHNE_26771.depot

You can build a multi patch depot, but read my command line carefully, if the patch requires a boot, your system will reboot.

I'd also suspect a problem in the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file

run the ifconfig lan# command with # being the number of your interface and look for something strange. Do all of this from a remote telnet session.

Re: STREAM/UX Error : the error continously flooding the console every fraction of second

The problem could have been with some network equipment.

When you tell that you were unable to reach the machine through telnet were you on the local lan or were you trying from a different segment through some router or gateway.

You have to check your network guys whether some problem was there from their side.

Also have the latest ARPA patches installed

Re: STREAM/UX Error : the error continously flooding the console every fraction of second

Hi all,

I found that, my network aquipment at that time was having a heavy traffic, i'm not sure what is the cause of this problem. but it seem like a virus attach or something else. that was happened on 31/01/2003 about 4 PM++ (GMT0) my local time.
this is so strange because after that (about a day after that) the system can be boot like normal. on that moment (from 4 PM(31/01/2003 - 1/02/2003 morning) i boot the server under run level 1. because when i tried to go to run level 2, once boot completed, the system start giving that error message.

because of this also, i cannot telnet to this server to apply the patches.
but now seem that the server is ok, but the curious thing is why this happened?

thanks & regards,

Mike
