Swapping 12H autoraid
I have an HPUX B11.00 system. Currently, I have an extra 12H Autoraid which I want to swap with the trouble one. They are basically identical in term of number of diskes and capacity. Do you know a good way to swap them?
Thanks,
JasonK

Re: Swapping 12H autoraid
Do you want to keep the data?
I would switch off everything, disconnect the controller batteries from the "new" array for some minutes, swap the array, swap the disks, insert the controllers, power on.
The array will get the config from the disks.
Check other settings too.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Swapping 12H autoraid
What exactly is the 'trouble' with this one?
it may be eaasier to fix this one instead of completely changing it all.
you could just end up moving the trouble from one m12h to another?
it also depends upon if you have any spare interfaces in your system you could potentially use aswell? FWD ones.

Re: Swapping 12H autoraid
Currently one of the disk drives at slot A2 on the AutoRaid is reported as
missing. I have had it replaced a couple of times and it will work
for a couple of weeks with the new drive. After a couple of weeks, it
will report that the drive is missing again.
Thanks,
JasonK

Re: Swapping 12H autoraid
Try with Torsten suggestion, swap the 12H Autoraid but using all of your old disk. Therefore you will not lose data but using a new backplane, controller, etc..

Re: Swapping 12H autoraid
it would be better to first check the firmware levels of all the controllers, spare and existing
if these are not the same then update them
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=19162&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=33695&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=7
then to make it alittle easier, swap one controller at a time to the existing M12H, and copy the config from x-y example. then do the same with the other controller y-x. you will end up with 4 controllers with the same config.
then swap all the disks and 2 new config controllers to the spare box and reboot the new M12H and server.
