I have to install ssh2 from f-secure. I have downloaded the binaries and registered the file as a depot. I can start the install and it looks ok as to dependencies and disk space.
I want to read some of the files in the depot (particularly /opt/ssh2/share/README) which I can see from a listing of files in the depot. I can't find a way to view the contents of the file without fully installing the software. I want to know if the README tells me if it requires a reboot, and if it will clobber the existing software.
I tried swlist -d -a readme -l product ssh2 @ mynode:/var/spool/sw , but that seems to try to list a readme for the depot, not the file inside the depot.
Any ideas

Re: swinstall 3rd party depot
Gord,
If you bring swinstall up interactively and select the software for installation, you can go to the 'Actions' menu and select 'Show Description of Software'. At the bottom of the description will tell whether a reboot is required or not.
Hope this Helps!

Solution
Hi,
As a depot is in the form of a tar-file, you
can try the following:
. tar tvf name_of_depot_file > depot.index
. Check the file depot.index for the complete path of the file you want to
look at.
. tar xvf name_of_depot_file path_to_file
If the file you want to read is a regular ASCII-file you should be able to extract that
one file from the depot in this way.

Re: swinstall 3rd party depot
Hi Gord,
If you have depot and you are using swinstall then before swinstall starts installing depot it will inform you that this requires reboot or not. At this point you can cancel/continue with installation.
