swinstalling latest Ignite

Hi,
We have some rx4640's and 2620's running HP-UX 11.23 with Ignite C.6.0.106. I want to swinstall Ignite C.7.0.93 - the latest Ignite. Do I have to swremove the Ignite C.6.0.106 first? If I don't swremove the old Ignite before installing the latest Ignite, can I (should I) swremove the old Ignite after installing the latest Ignite?

Hi Darrell:

While the official Ignite FAQ indicates that it is not necessary to 'swremove' an older version to install a new one, it doesn't hurt to do so.

I always swremove the old version of Ignite before installing a new version.

I have had problems with "version mismatch" errors in the past when I did not remove the old version first.

I'm with Patrick. I once had problems because I hadn't removed, so I've never tried it since.

It sounds like it might be best to swremove the old version first. There are a couple of files that i will save first. One file points at the tape drive if it is not the default - I must restore that file or create it later.
