Switching to user accounts from root asking for password

Hi,

The HP-UX server is in trusted mode. we are facing a strange problem here i.e When 'root' user tries to switch to any user using 'su' command it is prompting for a password.
Have tried "pwck" and found no errors..
My OS version is 10.20.
I am sure this i am doing as a root user.

If anybody face this kind of issue pls help me to get out of this problem.

Thanks In Advance,
Prakash

Re: Switching to user accounts from root asking for password

Try installing one of the following 'su' patches.

Defect Description:
PHCO_14258:
- su does not initialize the group using user's gid

PHCO_9559:
- su on trusted system prompts for password, even when root

Re: Switching to user accounts from root asking for password

Hi,

PHCO_14258 is the replacement for the other patch mentioned above. This patch was released almost 6 years ago, it has not been withdrawn, or superceded.

If you are running a trusted system at 10.20 it is essential to have all the trusted patches on the system. You should also be aware that 10.20 is an obsolete OS.

regards,

Darren.
