System has reached its maximum device addressable limit !!

Admins.. I have some rp7420/8420 servers reporting in EMS as below:

"The system has reached its maximum device addressable limit".

But letme tell you, these are just-born servers, and I had no storage configured/connected yet.. But all my FC cards are reporting the same.

FC card: HP 2Gb PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel FC/GigE Dual Port Combo Adapter

How can I overcome this.,.!!

Re: System has reached its maximum device addressable limit !!

If your FC card have been connected to the SAN switches, and you SAN admin all of a sudden have decided to open access to all volumes to your new server, then your server will discover all the volumes out there and most probably will throw this message out.

As far as I know, you or your SAN admin, from the SAN side, needs to limit the number of LUNs your server can see to reasonably low number.

Re: System has reached its maximum device addressable limit !!

whitehorse,

The reason why we get the other confusing message is because there is a mismatch between FC driver and EMS/STM version.

To fix that, please update to newer STM

1) http://www.docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm

2) Upgrade current fcd driver FibrChanl-01 to the latest version available on software.hp.com
