When I telnet or ftp into an HP-UX system I get the results of an uname command. I forced the system to read /etc/issue but I still get the uname results at the end. What determines what is displayed prior to actually logging in? ie where can I disable the uname display at the login prompt?

Solution
Hi,
Have you tried the banner for telnet,
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000063199927
The itrc doc id is KBRC00001633.
Here is a link on how to supress the hostname and version info for ftp, but you'll net ftpaccess for that,
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000062974927
The itrc doc id is UARPAKBQA00000205.
hope this helps.
