Tachyon FC

Hello, Admins!

We have installed 8 Tachyon FC adapters and connected them to SAN. After reboot, when the server comes up and the kernel is being loaded it says:
td: claimed Tachyon TL/TS Fibre Channel Mass Storage card at 0/1/0
"ns_query_name_server failed. hw_path = 0/1/0"
and then seven more times for every card. After the server is up I cannot see anything on those cards. If I run ioscan I get the same message with "ns_query_name_server". The kernel parameter num_tachyon_adapters is set to 10.
Any ideas?

Do you have the proper driver and patches installed. you have not mentioned what o/s level you are at. you will need at least the .4 release of the tachyon driver in the kernel as well as a few patches.

Re: Tachyon FC

is your SAN switched or hubs? did you install _tachyon_ adaptors, or _tachlite_ adaptors (A5158A)? iirc, only the tachlite cards can do fabric login, tachyon adaptors can only do arbitrated loop.

Re: Tachyon FC

I am sure this must be solved by now, but I just had a similar problem and was discouraged to find no answers here. What I found out was:

Each switch has a name server. This message indicates that your server could not contact the name server on the switch it is connected to. In my case this was caused by my server's fibre connection not being assigned to a zone and the default zone was disabled. I re-enabled the default zone and that fixed the problem. I would look at your switch configuration.

Re: Tachyon FC

I am currently experiencing the same thing. This is the result of the driver refusing to re-login to the new Domain. I changed the Domain ID of a switch with the same results. I am currently trying to get resolution to this WITHOUT a reboot. If anyone knows of a command to run to force the HBA to log in to the new Domain, please tell me. I have tried everything I could think of, including "fcmsutil reset" (since the HBA was non-functional anyway).
