Tape Drive Eject

After seeing the question re. CD-ROM eject, I have to ask: Is there a command to eject a DDS-3 tape drive, or is it also you-gotta-push-the-button?
Our Master B/U runs on Saturdays and Increms Mon-Thu @1:00 A.M. Last Monday was a holiday and Monday's Incremental overwrote Saturday's Master.
Any other way not to perform Monday's Increm if Master is still in the drive?

We use Microlite's Edge Backup and it is kicked off by cron.

Thanks!
It's not impossible -- it'll just cost more...

Re: Tape Drive Eject

That's easy :-)

You can use the mt command :-

mt offl (assuming it's /dev/rmt/0m)

or

mt -f offl

Re: Tape Drive Eject

Using the mt command will eject a tape. There are multiple options associated with the mt command and it is suggested to do 'man mt' to see what options are available.
