Target cant find a file during Ignite
I have an Ignite issue on HP-UX and Itanium. I am trying to install a HP-UX 11.31 system on a rx1620 using a DVD to boot the server (will get around to lanboot once the actual OS installs are working). The issue is that the target server is hanging on disk configuration (it returns to a # prompt after error) with this error:
/usr/lib/hpux32/dld.so can not find library libIO.so.1
The libIO.so.1 is in the HP-UX 11.31 depot location on the Ignite server and is exported to NFS, readable to the world AND in the $SHLIB_PATH for all users (yeah I know it isnt that smart to be world readable, will change later if I can get it fixed just trying anything I can think of as to why that file is not getting to the target server or not being put where the target server can find it). This is a similar unanswered thread

Anyone that might know where I messed up, please offer your suggestions.

Re: Target cant find a file during Ignite
Tell us what flavor/release of 11.31 DVD you have, and what 'swlist | grep -i ign' shows on your Ignite server.
(This should have nothing to do with the read access on your depot's file.)

Re: Target cant find a file during Ignite
# Contacting target "igniteserver"...
# Target: igniteserver:/
IGNITE C.7.8.201 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ign
ite-UX)
bash-2.04#
The DVD is from 2007, only info I can find indicates 11.31 and other generic OS identifiers. Is that enough info or can you please show me the commands to get the required info from the DVD, thanks.

It sure looks like it.
Have you talked to the Response Center? Possibly there is something broken in Ignite where it is trying to use /usr/lib/hpux32/ before it is mounted? Do you know what command is being executed?

Re: Target cant find a file during Ignite
As for knowing what command is being run, I don't; its trying to configure the disks via Ignite and the log stops at "Configuring Disks..." I then go to the serial console of the target and its sitting at the # prompt with the mentioned error and no commands to help me find the file in question or any history of what has been occurring on the target machine.

Re: Target cant find a file during Ignite
Couple of choices:
1. forget booting initially from the DVD and get lan boot going from Ignite only
2. get a newer DVD or make a boot one from Ignite
3. just install entirely from the DVD, forget Ignite (probably the fastest option to get client up)
4. Use the ignite version included on the DVD, instead of C.7.8.201 (March 2009), and they should be more compatible.
If you are in a hurry, do #3, figure out Ignite later.

Re: Target cant find a file during Ignite
Reinstall Ignite version to the level that is correspondant to my DVD media, once I did that everything worked just fine. There is obviously some difference in the 2007 media and the 2009 and that difference was the hold up, thanks for the help all!!
