Re: Thinking of upgrading to 11.0 ?
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/5971-0642/5971-0642.html
It shows the system requirements. The C180 will run 11.0 @ 32 or 64bit.
If there's software you want to purchase for it, I'm sure you could obtain the codewords. Depending on the saftware you need, you can search http://www.software.hp.com and purchase from a reseller.
For software you've already purchased, you can obtain a codeword from HP Licensing. Go to http://licensing.hp.com for additional info.
I was a newbie at one time too. The best way around that is to ask questions.
hope this helps

Re: Thinking of upgrading to 11.0 ?
What does a support contract cost? That depends on several factors: 1) The model of the machine (a workstation will be MUCH cheaper than a server -- usually), 2) The level (responsiveness) of support (8a-8p M-F, 24x7, same day response, next day response, within 3 days, etc.), 3) Whether or not you get software only or hardware and software (can you get hardware without software?) (hardware support can add significantly to the price, since if something breaks HP fixes it at their cost), 4) distance from an HP office (for hardware the techs have to travel)
I would recommend, if you can afford it, a software contract at a minimum. Hardware is nice, but you could probably buy another workstation from E-bay cheaper than hardware support (sorry HP). The software support entitles you to all upgrades of the OS, periodic patch releases, access to HP response center in case of problems, access to more areas of the ITRC that are support contract based and other benefits.
How do you get a support contract? I would call the HP response center at 800-633-3600, get connected to a real person and see if they can steer you in the right direction.

Re: Thinking of upgrading to 11.0 ?
http://software.hp.com or sales would probably be a good place to go. To get a better idea, what exactly is it that you'll need and be using the box for?

Re: Thinking of upgrading to 11.0 ?
If you go for 11.00 then do a fresh install not an upgrade, there are many threads on the forum on this subject and the strong concensus is to go the fresh instal path.
