I get the message in root's email every so offen and cant find the source of the message.

How do you turn off uccp mail test messages?

Check fron cron entries. It might not be obviuos because the commands might be embedded in one of the uudemon.xxxx scripts in /usr/lib/uucp. A very common place for this is uudemon.admin. Generally the uusched tasks are controlled by a crontab entries. If you are not using uucp (and few people are this decade), you can disable all the crontab entries.
