time synchronisation

Hello,

I'm using "timed" to sync the time on my AIX and SCO boxes. I would like to know if HP-UX 11.00 has the same util. It doesn't appear in the man pages nor is it loaded on the system.

Is there a timed or do I have to use NTP?

Thanks,
Anthony.

Re: time synchronisation

Hi:

timed is not a part of HP-UX. You will need to use NTP via xntpd or ntpdate.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

xntpd is the time daemon you are looking for

Re: time synchronisation

xntp comes with a man page, The file "/etc/ntp.conf" contains all configuration entries possible, all commented out. You can change the fields that you need or even easier use SAM select "Time" (not "Networking and Communications").
In the Time area:

1. Select either of the NTP icons and press the F1 function key for help on
that item. One of the topics available is an overview of NTP and how it
works.

2. Double-click NTP Broadcasting to view, add, modify, or remove broadcast
client networks.

3. Double-click NTP Network Time Sources to view, add, modify, or remove NTP
servers or peers of your host. Inside this Time Sources window, there
are `Actions' menu entries to start NTP, explain NTP, and configure an
NTP local clock.
