Time Zone in Mexico and Taiwan

What should th TZ variable set for the country Mexico and Taiwan ?

Most of Mexico is Central CST6CDT, the western side is mountain MST7MDT.

Just found my world map and Taiwan is +8 time zone which a good entry would be TST-8TDT.

I think it should be EAT-8 at least according to 'set_parms timezone'.

It does not matter what characters you put in the string, it only matters what the numeric middle value is. The characters are only for display.

Um John, if the characters don't matter than how does the machine know whether to apply daylight savings time or not?
As an example, Indiana has it's own code in table listed above because it does not follow the standard rules for daylight savings time. Is there someplace else to specify daylight savings time other than in TZ that I am ignorant about?
