Re: to reduce CPU load
Why do you want to reduce CPU load?
if you are running at High "CPU load" at some random hours of the day and your application is working fine without any complaints from end-users, there is not reason to do so.
if your performances is really degrading, you must proceed systematically...
Maybe measureware can help you investigate further
kind regards

Re: to reduce CPU load
if you are really facing high cpu load
you can reduce it by sofware changes
or hardware upgrade
ex increase no of cpu, ram etc
pls give the output of the
following commands
sar -Mu 5 5
sar -d 5 5
sar -Mq 5 5
sar -v 5 5
swapinfo -tam
vmstat -S 5 5
top
bdf
sysdef
please mention abt the software
you are using
for example - oracle + sap etc

Re: to reduce CPU load
it depends on what you need or what you want
As shridhar's mentioned at first you have to
collect some information from your system and
also as Dirk's mentioned high cpu always does not refer any going wrong on your system
Good Luck,
