Total number of PEs in a volume group.

I have a volume group with total 1016 LEs/PEs. Spread over two disks c0t8d0 and c3t5d0 each consisting of 508 PEs as indicated by pvdisplay.
When the PEs in the individual logical volumes in this group are added(lvol1:508;lvol2:129;lvol3:129;lvol6_data:129;lvol7_data:129) they add up to 1272 PEs. How is this possible, what's my error ?
Thanks

Hi,

Please post the output of vgdisplay -v
of your volume group.

Re: Total number of PEs in a volume group.

Hi Rao,

There is a small correction.
508+4*129=1024

So we are down to a difference of 8 PEs here.
Probably you want to reverify vgdisplay and lvdisplay of each logical volume. Also, lvdisplay -v will display the LE PE mapping that will help you find out where the error is.

Re: Total number of PEs in a volume group.

Hi Rao,

It shouldn't be possible. I haven't searched to see if there is a patch for such an issue.

Please re-check the output of vgdisplay -v. I've never seen a discrepancy such as what you describe.

Can you post the vgdisplay -v output. Since
you say it is workign fine, i guess it should be setup fine. Did you add the swap volume extents ??
