trouble starting vncserver

I have installed vncserver and I am having trouble getting it started. My vnc log has the errors:
no logger found! stderr
Unrecognized option: -desktop
aCC runtime: ERROR: _main() not called.
xsetroot: unable to open display 'opm-prd:15'
vncconfig: unable to open display "opm-prd:15"
Any ideas?

Re: trouble starting vncserver

Looks like it wasn't compiled right. Did it come as depot or source code?

Re: trouble starting vncserver

I had real problems with a couple of different versions of VNC, until I downloaded RealVNC, which works fine on HP-UX 11.11 on a RISC server. (B1000 and J5000)

http://www.realvnc.com/download-free.html

I downloaded version 3.3.7.2

Re: trouble starting vncserver

I was installed from source code. I installed RealVNC, but it is version 4.0. I will try the older version and see if that helps. If you have any more ideas, please let me know.
Thanks.

Re: trouble starting vncserver

This is a compile error.

I got the depot file from the gatekeep.cs.utah.edu - the software porting center.

This is version 3.3.7.2 and it is Realvnc.

Can use swinstall to install the package

Re: trouble starting vncserver

One caveat on the RealVNC version 3.7.2, you may need also to apply the following patches (if you haven't already)

PHSS_31255 - s700_800 11.11 Xserver cumulative patch

PHSS_30787 - s700_800 11.11 X/Motif Runtime Periodic Patch

PHSS_30788 - s700_800 11.11 CDE Base Periodic Patch

PHSS_30789 - s700_800 11.11 CDE Applications Patch

Re: trouble starting vncserver

ok. I was able to get v4.0 to work on another 11.0 system, but I still can't get it to work on the original system. Which doesn't make sense. I tried to find the depot on the site mentioned, but I can't find it there.

Bottom right of page, link ->

Alternatively you can get Chuck Slivkoff's version 3.3.7 HP-UX depot files.

Re: trouble starting vncserver

I was able to get v3 to work with the depot. Thanks for everyone's help.
