Trusted System

Hello all,

I?m using trusted system on my HP 10.x and 11.x.
I would like to empty file /var/btmp and /var/wtmp. These action will cause damage on my system? I?ll have someone problem with trusted?

Hi:

Emptying /var/adm/btmp and /var/adm/wtmp are not a problem. To completely empty them, do this:

# cat /dev/null > /var/adm/btmp
# cat /dev/null > /var/adm/wtmp

Hi

In manpage (man btmp, man wtmp is the same) you
can see that it is possible to remove this files.
But there are not created after so when I do
that I prefer to use : "cat /dev/null > wtmp".

If your log system stop after removing files
see accton to restart it.

Oi.
No problem with that.
Since you clean it by resetting it with a null pointer: "> /var/btmp" and "> /var/wtmp"
don't delete them.
