Re: trying to setup a Zebra 320QL printer from HPUX 11i
I had several networked Zebra printers set up on HPUX 11i. I used Hp's JetDirect Printer Installer (freely downloadable at hp.com).
I used the dumbplot model script for the printers. These printers were in a production enviroment and I never had a problem with them.

Re: trying to setup a Zebra 320QL printer from HPUX 11i
hpnpadmin -v 12.34.56.78
Note: you can use either IP or hostname for setting up a network printer--I prefer IP address since getting printers into DNS can sometimes get too political. If hpnpadmin shows good stats, print a file with hpnpf (that's how the spooler does it):
hpnpf -N -x 12.34.56.78 /etc/hosts
If that works, the spooler is having problems, almost always due to changed permissions.

Re: trying to setup a Zebra 320QL printer from HPUX 11i
This is what I got:
hpnpadmin -v 10.98.4.243
*** Receive NO snmp response!
*** (printer down, cable off, or wrong Get community name?)
I can ping the printer. SNMP is showing "on"
on the printer configuration menu!

Re: trying to setup a Zebra 320QL printer from HPUX 11i
Use the following to set up the printer:
lpadmin -v/dev/null -mrmodel -p
accept and enable the printer.
Try printing something to it (lp -d
Does the data light flash ?
If so it is working.
If you want to actually print something put the following (from ^XA to ^XZ) into a file and print it instead of /etc/hosts (include the control characters):
^XA^PRE^LH10,10^FO25,25^GB780,780,5,B^FS^FO305,40^GB215,750,5,B^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO755,50^FDTag ID:^FS^FO555,60^BY4,2.0,^B3R,N,200,N^FD111^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO520,50^FD111^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO470,50^FDSuggested Zone:^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO470,300^FDAZNE^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO430,50^FDQty:^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO430,300^FD100.000000^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO390,50^FDExpiry Date:^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO390,300^FD12/AUG/2000^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO350,50^FDReceipt Date:^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO350,300^FD01/AUG/2000^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO310,50^FDBatch ID:^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO310,300^FD^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO270,50^FDSKU ID:^FS^FO70,50^BY3,2.0,^B3R,N,200,N^FDASKU001^FS^CF0,30,30^FWR^FO35,50^FDASKU001^FS^XZ
